Shanghai, China, August 19, 2013 - NXP Semiconductors N.V. (NASDAQ N.V.) (NASDAQ Code: NXPI) recently announced the launch of the PCA9617A super fast mode (Fm+) I2C bus buffer, designed for the use of the emerging server applications of DDR4 SDRAM memory. This breakthrough voltage conversion Bus Buffer with a I2C bus with a working frequency of up to 1 MHz and a voltage level conversion of 2.5 V on the side of the 0.8 V to SDRAM module on the CPU side enables the engineer to use a new DDR4 technology to design a new generation of server systems. The I2C bus is constantly promoting the innovation of the I2C bus, which is a widely used bus system management and control technology, which is almost used in all computing and enterprise equipment applications. PCA9617A is the first Fm+ device designed specifically for servers. The device operates at a frequency of 1 MHz, and has a normal fast mode drive capability, which can be performed on a more busy capacitive load bus and down compatible with fast mode and standard mode speed.
PCA9617A is a CMOS integrated circuit that provides voltage level conversion in the voltage range of 0.8V and 2.5V for ultra fast mode I2C bus or SMBus applications. While keeping all the working modes and functions of the I2C bus system during the level conversion process, it also extends the I2C bus by providing a two-way buffer to the data (SDA) line and the clock (SCL) line, and divides a bus into two parts of the operating frequency of 1 MHz and the capacitance of 550 pF (maximum value). With PCA9617A, the system designer can increase the load capacitance of the bus and provide voltage level conversion. Both the SDA pin and the SCL pin have anti overvoltage capability and are in a high impedance state when PCA9617A is out of power. NXP is about to launch evaluation samples and presentation boards.
"Our main server architecture customers want us to develop faster and less voltage PCA9517A improvements for the new generation architecture," said Stephen Blozis, a global product market manager at NDK semiconductor. Through close cooperation with these customers, we launched PCA9617A to meet the complex specifications of customers when designing advanced servers. NSK will continue to develop a variety of advanced system applications of the I2C bus in an innovative way, and let engineers dabble in the design of complex architecture to achieve a new performance level.
